Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
The nose is quite soft and light. There are notes of malted barley and toasted cereals with the requisite sweetness. The palate is of good body and quite sweet. There are notes of toffee and caramel with vanilla fudge and a touch of gentle, supple oak. The finish is of medium-length.
"Master Blender Brian Kinsman skilfully blends around 25 of the finest single malt and grain Scotch whiskies to make Grant’s Family Reserve. The basis for the blend is our widely acclaimed Girvan grain whisky. Vacuum distilled at a lower temperature to make it a lighter and more delicate spirit, it is then aged in oak to give it a deeper, sweeter, soft fruit flavour, creating the perfect foundation.
Nose: Complex, clean with notes of ripe pear and summer fruits.
Taste: Balances vanilla sweetness with malty and light floral fragrances.
Finish: Long and sweet with a merest hint of peat and smoke."
A suave and smooth mix of Dufftown and Speyside Scotches. The burnished copper spirit has lively orange peel, butterscotch and baking spice notes and a buttery finish. Good value. -K.N.
