As with the rest of the wines, I tasted the first two vintages bottled, including the 2018 Fuente de los Huertos Garnacha from a cold and wet year, very different than 2017. The fermentation and élevage were similar: a long maceration with full clusters and one year in used 500-liter oak barrels that are quite neutral and don't lend oak aromas or flavors. This is a little shy and has deeper color than the 2017 (a constant here and in the San Martín zone: the wines have less color in warm years and deeper ones in cooler years) along with great energy, balance, detail and texture. It's very young but still approachable, with no noticeable oak (like all the reds here), great purity and definition. The floral aromas come with some time in the glass. This is beautiful, a Garnacha of great finesse. 2,500 bottles were filled in January 2020.
